Gratitude to God

Gratitude to God makes even a temporal blessing a taste of heaven.William Romaine

Thought for Today

“Christianity is about a daily walk with this person, Jesus. The heart of Christian faith is a radical and reasonable trust and focus on Jesus, but for many of us, our focus has shifted very subtly from love for Jesus and faithfulness to Him and obedience to Him to a set of doctrines. Life and living comes from God – it comes from Jesus – not from doctrine or good morals. You can be an utterly moral person and not be alive. Jesus came that we might have life, not good morals. It’s not that I’m opposed to good morals at all; it’s just that sometimes I think we put the cart before the horse.” – Rich Mullins, the “Awesome God” guy

Thought of the Day

“When people object…that if Jesus was God as well as man, then He had an unfair advantage which deprives Him for them of all value, it seems to me as if a man struggling in the water should refuse a rope thrown to him by another who had one foot on the bank, saying, ‘Oh but you had an unfair advantage.’ It is because of His advantage that He can help.” – C.S. Lewis

Thought for Today

“What is your ambition in life today? Is it to get rich? Is it to make a name for yourself? Is it even to do some wonderful thing for God? Listen to me, beloved. The highest desire that can possess any human heart is a longing to see God.” - J. Vernon McGee

Thought FOR TODAY

Thought FOR TODAY

A HEBREW SAGE MIGHT SAY. . .

A big liar – is one whom, not only what he said isn’t true, but the opposite of what he said isn’t true either.

NO CONFIDENCE IN THE FLESH

“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh; But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter whose praise is not of men, but of GOD.” [Romans 2. 28- 29]

The Apostle Paul is not speaking to Gentiles here but to Jews who were trusting in the fact that they were Jews. [Romans 2. 17] Paul is describing the true Jew who is one not only outwardly but inwardly. He does not boast in his religion or the fact he is a Jew – - there is no pride of race in grace – - but he counts all that as loss and his trust now is in the LORD YESHUA.

“For we are the circumcision, who worship GOD in the spirit, rejoice in CHRIST JESUS, and have no confidence in the flesh. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so.” [Philippians 3. 3 - 4]

Then Paul explains what it is about the flesh in which he could trust.

“Circumcised on the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the Law, a Pharisee. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the Law, blameless.” [Philippians 3. 5 - 6]

Now Paul is counting as “unnecessary” and “vain” all those things of the flesh in which he could have trusted. “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for CHRIST. Yes indeed, I also count all things loss for the excellency of the knowledge of MESSIAH JESUS my LORD; for WHOM I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish and dung, that I may win CHRIST, and be found in HIM, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith in MESSIAH YESHUA, the righteousness which is from GOD by faith.” [Philippians 3. 7 - 9]

Jews are again becoming the “people of GOD” just as HE promised.

“Once they were not MY people (Hebrew: lo-ammi).” [see Hosea/Hoshea 1. 9 - 10]

But regardless of being cut-off they would eventually multiply, be great, and again be called the “children of GOD.” “I will say to Lo-ammi (“not my people”),’You are MY people’ – and they will respond,

‘YOU are my GOD.’” [Hosea (Hoshea) 2. 23 Tanakh, Nevi'im]

Hence, CHRISTianity is not a Gentile religion, but is completely Jewish

– a relationship with the TRUE & LIVING GOD, developed out of the Jewish faith found in both the OLD & NEW COVENANTS. All races, classes and peoples, male & female are equal in rights and privileges relative to the good news and benefits of the GOSPEL. ALMIGHTY CREATOR GOD does not recognize one above the other — all are one in the body of the LORD YESHUA ha’MASHIACH.

Sha’alu (Pray) for the shalom (Peace) of Jerusalem and all of Israel!

Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our LORD & SAVIOUR, MESSIAH YESHUA. To HIM be all the glory and praise now and forevermore, Amen!

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is praying for the return of Messiah Jesus and His Kingdom.

Thought for Today

“If the world grows too worldly, it can be rebuked by the Church; but if the Church grows too wordly, it cannot be adequately rebuked for worldliness by the world.” - G.K. Chesterton

Thought for Today

“A thousand times over, the death knell of the Bible has been sounded, the funeral procession formed, the inscription cut on the tombstone, and committal read. But somehow, the corpse never stays put. No other book has been so chopped, knifed, sifted, scrutinized, and vilified. What book on philosophy or religion has been subject to such a mass attack as the Bible, with such venom and skepticism, with such thoroughness and erudition upon every chapter, line and tenet? The Bible is still loved by millions, read by millions, and studied by millions.” - Bernard Ramm

Thought for Today

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.”Winston Churchill

Thought for Today,

Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough.

~Josh Billings

Thought for Today

“Could it be that God ‘feels’? Could God be capable of passion? Could God be excited or must He be austere? Are we comfortable with the image of God as Father and nervous about God as Lover (some of us even prefer God as Parent – less a personality, more an ideal). Are we happy to have God be the Creator, but scared to think of Him as being Creative? Do we like God being an engineer, but balk at His being an artist? Does His being a logician comfort us, but His being a poet threaten us? Do we enjoy the glow of God’s light, but shade ourselves from the heat of his flames? Does the idea that Jesus tolerated the sinful woman’s anointing of His feet and John resting his head on Jesus’ breast make us squirm, so the thought that Jesus enjoyed this makes us sick? How is it that we can accept that Moses saw a bush that burned and was not consumed, yet we doubt that God can love in a rage and never cool?” - Rich Mullins, the “Awesome God” guy
